The technical lab is intended to be a support for didactics and at the same time to improve applied design research with the cooperation of field manufactures. Other than that, wants to give an important contribution for the lighting field, for reliefs and tests of innovative plans in lighting and color field.

Didactics
Optimization of lighting in virtual environments, metrological evaluation of performances of lighting plants and photometric characterization of functional prototypes. These activities are available in the didactics of the School of Design, the Lighting Design Master and for permanent training courses.
Applied research
Design of innovative lighting solutions and new luminaries starting from a technological analysis going to a esthetic-functional aspect. In particular, study of high performance optics with the use of computational software and successive quality check on prototypes. Study of optic and spectral attributes of surfaces in relation of natural and artificial light. Research and development of innovative procedures and solutions for the metrological validation of light sources and luminaries.
Photometric, colorimetric and spectral reliefs, of environments and lighting installation to evaluate the plan or to verify the correspondence of performances.
