LabFoto is an avant-garde technical lab in line with the experimental tradition of the Politecnico di Milano.

It acts in an advisory capacity and also works in photographic and representational design, using the tools of both analogical and digital photography. Activities may be led by teaching staff or support individual student projects.

The lab pictorially documents School of Design’s events and didactic or promotional activities, and promotes photography in design culture through meetings, seminars and round tables on the Milan and Como campuses. It conducts training and research in photography and visual communication to support the teaching of design by offering basic, advanced and thematic photography courses and laboratories.

It offers photography sets of all sizes and a vast range of lighting equipment (flash and steady) to meet the differing requirements of industrial design, fashion design, interior design and communication design. Photographic equipment ranges from small to large analogical formats, to digital cameras including compact, reflex and digital backs. A post production area for digital pictures, equipped with a professional workstation, completes the apparatus available.
