The Design and Sustainability technical lab offers support for the integration of environmental sustainability requirements into product, service and system designing. It provides software tools, extensive documentation and advice for the designing and assessment of environmental impact. It provides personalised teaching support for commodity macro-categories and/or design orientation. It carries out research to consolidate the development of environmentally sustainable products, services and systems. IT tools are developed to support training in the discipline and experimental courses are offered in advanced design and prototyping together with other universities in Italy and abroad. The lab coordinates the national network of environmental requirements for industrial products (rapi.rete) and the international Learning Network On Sustainability (LENS). The lab’s assets include: a digital archive of strategies, products and services of environmental excellence; software for designing and assessing environmental impact (LCA); a computerised databank on Life Cycle Assessment; some audio/video recorded lessons on sustainability and design.
