The Master Program in Communication Design seeks to meet the strong demand for designers for advanced design in the communication industry.

The training curriculum aims to create a design figure skilled in media design and the design of different artefacts who is able to outline strategic concepts and co-ordinate the various figures involved in communication design.

In the Master program, theoretical and strategic skills increase alongside design autonomy. Here we are talking about the ability to co-ordinate and control complex communication systems, which integrate various artefacts and supports in cross-media communication of one kind or another.

So the exit profile from the Master program is a figure able to:
- generate concepts that provide innovative communication responses;
- design new connections between different communication formats;
- put the elements of a communication system together in new ways;
- organise and co-ordinate work in an overall vision.

This figure must also be sensitive towards a culture that is critical of communication design. He/she must be critical, propositive and work with awareness and social responsibility in close conjunction with the contents of the communication. The areas he/she will work in include traditional and multimedia publishing, brand and product identity, product and services for the new television, the internet and mobile phones. In addition, innovation and experimenting communication prototypes integrates traditional communication systems and technologically advanced systems making for a highly complex ground for design.

To this aim, special attention is dedicated in the course to the theoretical-critical area of design, to the semiotic, sociological and mass-media disciplines, which constitute the central core of a communication designer’s skills, together with the technological knowledge that underlie the design of new forms of interaction. Alongside these are developed complex design experiences for the acquisition of skills useful to the management of complex communication systems.

Graduates from the Master program organise and direct the designing of company communication strategies and stage management.

They may find a place in companies or institutions with a strong vocation for company communication or high internet profile through online trading.

They also have a wide range of employment possibilities in traditional and multi-media publishing, in advertising and communication agencies and in consultancy firms in the IT field.
