MASTER DEGREE
IN INTERIOR DESIGN

Head of Course: Prof. Giovanna Piccinno

The Master program in Interior Design seeks to train design figures with a high cultural and professional profile; designers who are able to critically and creatively interpret new social and individual needs that occur in the great universe of internal (and external) space in contemporary cities. Such necessities change rapidly and often call for innovative, flexible environmental devices.

The Master program seeks to create professional figures able to direct and co-ordinate the design of space and its functions, and the relationship between space and user. They should be able to co-ordinate and stage manage settings and arrangements, enhance internal spaces within existing architectural heritage and to interpret the requirements of every individual commission in innovative terms.

Graduates from the Master Program carry out complex design activities, co-ordinating all the competences involved in the interior design, targeting them to specific aims.

Interior designers may find their natural place in a design firm or studio, directing operations in different areas, such as:
the domestic environment in the age of home working, co-working and the relational economy;
commercial networks and places of cultural production and presentation (such as auditoriums, museums, galleries and exhibition premises);
public spaces dedicated to more advanced social functions (such as offices, hospitals, schools or universities);
hotel accommodation in the age of mass tourism and widespread nomadism;
reutilisation and recovery of abandoned industrial and service areas.
