Exams Autumnal Session
The dates of the session are visible from July 26th, 2016 in the Online Services .
The registration of the exams of the autumnal session start from July 26th, 2016 .
The student must register for the exams and check the registration before taking the exam because without registration is not possible to register the grade.
To be sure and to avoid any inconvenience, save your protocol number that appears after the registration.
Students that want to graduate in September’s session must check the date for making/ verbalizing exams and register at the exam date that preceding this deadline.
Remember that the filling of the questionnaire on the evaluation of teaching doesn’t match with the registration of the exam.

International Workshop at Belgrade

In the next month of September will be held in Belgrade the 6th International Workshop of Landscape Design organized by Politecnico di Milano, School of Architecture and the School of Design, in cooperation with Megatrend University “Dzon Nezbit” of Belgrade and with the participation of the Faculty of Architecture , University of Belgrade, Belgrade Union University and KEA Copenhagen.
The workshop participants will face the challenge of creating innovative solutions to some of the public spaces of Belgrade, including design themes of urban design, landscape architecture, design, to redevelop areas that the city center will expand on the Danube. Water and public spaces.
The Workshop includes the presence of interdisciplinary professionals and teachers with whom students will dialogue critically to identify problems and objectives.
24 students of Politecnico di Milano can partecipate in the workshop.
Can apply to the workshop all students enrolled in:
• The third year of the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science at the School of Architecture.
• Master of Science in in Interior Design
• Master of Science in Product Service System Design
• Master of Science in Yacht & Cruising Vessel Design

Social design and aesthetics
Social design has gained importance over the last ten years, which has seen the rise of concepts like social design, socially responsible design, design activism, social innovation, and new social design. Social design has expanded the domain of design, but it has also led to losses in some of the constitutive vocabularies of design. This presentation asks what happens to aesthetic concepts when design loses its connection to material reality. Does aesthetic disappear, or just change its form? It examines this question by studying recent examples of social design from Asia, Europe, and South America. It argues that currently, there are three prevailing aesthetics in design: agonistic, convivial and conceptual. It also argues that these lead designers into different ways of understanding their role in bringing forth change, and also into what role products, visuals, spaces and interactive technologies can take in change.
Ilpo Koskinen has worked as a professor of industrial design since 1999. His main research interests have been in mobile multimedia, the relationship of design and cities, and methodology in design research. His most recent book is ”Design through Research: From Lab, Field, Showroom” (Morgan Kaufmann, October 2011). His current research interest is social design. He has been working as professor in Helsinki, Aarhus, Melbourne, and Hong Kong, which is his current location.

The ADI Compasso d’Oro Award is universally regarded as the supreme accolade for originality, excellence, achievement and research in industrial design. Created in 1954 by the la Rinascente department store in Milan to encourage product aesthetics, the award’s logo - a reference to the compass invented by Adalbert Göringer to measure the golden section – was designed by Albe Steiner, while the trophy is the work of Alberto Rosselli and Marco Zanuso.
The award subsequently passed from Ia Rinascente to ADI, which organises the award once every three years. Every year, the Permanent Design Observatory, a team of more than 150 design experts, selects the finest of Italian design for the annual ADI Design Index, the basis on which an International jury then confers the Compasso d’Oro Awards once every three years. Since 1954, more than 30,000 items have been examined, 313 Compasso d’Oro Awards and 103 Compasso d’Oro Carreer Awards presented, and 1,819 Honorable Mentions and 71 Targhe Giovani attributed.
In this exhibition are presented the prizes and mentions obtained by the School of Design and by the Department of Design of the Politecnico di Milano over the last few years:
