POSTERHEROES project brief – [pdf file]
PLUG promotes the 3rd edition of “Posterheroes” in collaboration with Biennale Democrazia, FOAT and Chamber of Commerce.
After facing issues such as energy consumption in previous editions, PLUG triggers a debate on sustainability in the fields of production, health, mobility and public life in the city.
The competition, open from November 19th until February 18th 2013, is part ofa wider debate related to the Smart City project.
The Posterheroes 3 themes would complete, together with those of the previous editions, the six issues suggested by the European Community as indicators for a “Smart” city.
The social communication competition, with the patronage of UNESCO, aims at the involvement of the creative community of the world around four issues of global interest – production, health, mobility and public life – in order to stimulate collective consciousness toward a new way of life in the city.
In order to become “smart” our cities have to become places where the resources will be optimised and improved, they have to become an expression of new habits. They will not change their appearance. Will be the same city as before, but new, accessible, free, clean and transparent.
Evolution is the keyword in Posterheroes 3 brief: actually a transparent evolution.
The creative people around the world are therefore called to express their sensitivity and their clear ideas of evolution through the creation of a graphic poster 50×70. For each categories, the jury, composed by international experts in the field of graphics and communication, will identify the top ten proposals, for a total of forty selected posters.
After the closure of the contest the posters will be published in the catalog of Posterheroes and they will become part of future exhibitions and events that PLUG will organise. Moreover, the selected posters will be included within the events organised by Biennale Democrazia in order to create a traveling exhibition through the streets of Turin.
PLUG is a non-profit cultural association, engaged on social, economic and environmental issues. The main purpose of PLUG is to create debate, propose ideas and influence the habits of the people, by facing important aspects of social and environmental sustainability. The cultural association, founded in 2009, develops and promotes contests, events, conferences and workshops dedicated to creatives people but especially to young people. The addressed issues concern the whole contemporary society, for this reason PLUG has decided to operate on a global scale, in order to create a worldwide network.
